Note to self - Tuesday is not the right day of the week to tackle pastry. I suck at pastry. Pastry takes me a loooong time to make.

On the advice of my Argentinian friend Gaby, we decided to try to make Empanadas today. Despite the fact that Jack and I struggled through the pastry part, they turned out pretty well (although Ruth wants to know why the Argentinians would ruin a perfectly good meat pie with egg & olives!). They were certainly not pretty but when I'm well beyond trying to make food look good. We decided to make a chimichurri to go with them, and listened to tango music while we ate. Scores range from 6/10 (Ruth who is still questioning the egg & olives) to 8/10 (Jack, whose score may have been influenced by the serious effort put forth in the creation).

Armenia is next up. Haven't really looked into what may be in store for us with that, but here's hoping there's no more pastry!
