This is one meal that we were looking forward to. As soon as we started this project we knew what we would make when we got to Brazil. Our choice was reinforced by the Brazilian woman who works at the butcher and has taken an interest in our project as well. Feijoada is essentially a stew made of beans, pork and beef and it's considered one of the national dishes of meat-loving Brazil. We've seen it made on international cooking shows on TV and it's always looked amazing. And it was.

We made our feijoada in the slow cooker and ate it with rice, kale (substitute for collard greens) and the requisite orange. The meat was tender and smokey and the beans were done perfectly. This is one dish that lived up to expectations!

Next up is Brunei Darussalam and we're looking forward to getting some spiciness happening!
